Mecca Hosting® - Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 23 January 2009
At Mecca Hosting your privacy has always been very important to us.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
By participating in the PrivacyBot Program, we have made a commitment to meet the programs' requirements regarding how we treat your information and have it verified by PrivacyBot.
This privacy policy explains how we collect, maintain, use and disclose your personal information and covers Mecca Hosting's website: www.MeccaHosting.com
Table Of Contents
Why do we ask for personal information?
As a service provider, we need to contact you from time to time to 1) inform you about problems with your services; 2) request that you take certain actions; or 3) send notices or information you have requested. We take the job of protecting your personal information very seriously; for example, our employees never have access to your e-mail addresses or telephone numbers -- even when contacting you directly.
How do we collect your information?
Generally, we
only collect personal information about you from you, unless it is not reasonable
or practical for us to do so or you consent. We securely collect
all personal information through forms on the Internet that operate at the highest level of
security supported by your browser; typically 128-bit encryption, but 256-bit encryption is also available.
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important to us. For that reason, we never knowingly
collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have personal information
on a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information from our systems.
What information do we hold about you?
In order to identify you, we store your login username, password, mother's maiden name, month and day of birth, if provided.
We also store your name, address, telephone contact numbers, and e-mail addresses, which are used
to contact you regarding problems or issues with your account. Your credit card number and expiration date are also
kept on our systems for processing service payments or refunds.
We also store cookies which help us provide a better user experience by remembering you when you return to our website.
We also use cookies to keep track of who referred you to our site, so we know whom to credit for orders placed
for our services. If you choose to disable cookies in your browser, you can still access much of our services, however,
some of our systems use cookies to remember your login so that you're not continually asked for your
login username and password.
How do we protect your information?
We take all reasonable
steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorized access,
modification or disclosure. We have physical, electronic and procedural safeguards
to protect your information which is held by us. For example, your personal
information is stored in secured office premises, in electronic databases requiring
logins and passwords for access. This information is only available to staff
whose job purpose requires access and we require that they maintain the confidentiality
of your personal information. Your personal and financial information
is further protected on our systems by scrambling it using well-known high-grade encryption systems;
IDEA and AES.
How do we use your information?
We use your personal information to:
- help us process your
application for our products or services;
- effectively manage and
administer all products and services we provide to you.
Any form used to collect
your information may give more specific details about the way we use your information.
You may opt-out of any mailings that you receive from us at any time by contacting us here.
Who do we disclose your information to?
We only provide third-party agents with the minimum amount of information needed to complete
the requested service or transaction.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
Depending on the product or service that we provide to you, we disclose some of your personal information
to:
- the US Postal Service, which provides
mailing services;
- our credit card processor, which provides
credit card authorization, clearing and settlement services used to process your payment;
- our ICANN accredited domain registrars (which may be located overseas)
to which all domain registrations are submitted on your behalf;
All communications with the above third-party agents
are completed confidentially and transmitted securely over the highest level of security available.
These agents are limited in their use of your information to the purposes
of our business only; although information on domain name ownership is a public record.
We may also have to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process. We also may choose to
establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
We may possibly share information in order to investigate, prevent or take action regarding
illegal activities, suspected fraud, or as otherwise required by law.
What information do we disclose?
We will only disclose
the minimum amount of information that is required to accomplish said tasks.
We disclose your company name, full name, and full address to the US Postal Service for delivering correspondence by mail.
We disclose your company name and full name to our domain registrar to be listed
on your domain name as a public record. We register all domain names using our own mailing address, phone number,
and e-mail address to help protect your personal information. The only exception is Canadian domain registrations, as we are required to disclose your company name, full name, address, phone number, and e-mail address to the Canadian domain registry authority.
We disclose your full name, street number, zipcode, credit card number, credit card expiration date,
